One In A Million – Lyrics

Found myself down by the water,
Found myself down by the sea,
Trying to feel what I ought to feel,
But nothing’s coming to me.
I watch the ranks of waves come in,
And go defeated back again…

You’re just one in a million,
Like all this sand unfamiliar,
But you’ve got, something that’s different at least…

Swam for a while in the water,
Swam for a while in the sea,
Trying to feel that there’s more to feel,
Than the cold that’s swimming round me.

The sea just wants to hold the land,
But how do you hold a shifting sand?

You’re just one in a million,
Like all this sand unfamiliar,
But you’ve got, something that’s different at least…

You kept the waves from my shore,
You keep the weather outdoors,
You kept me warm, gave me more, than I asked for…
Found myself down by the water,
Found myself down by the sea,
Found myself watching the moon come up,
And found you there waiting for me.

You’re just one in a million,
Like all this sand unfamiliar,
But you’ve got, something that’s different at least…

Make It Better – Lyrics

Your head’s bowed down, the feelings low,
When the black dog runs, there’s nowhere to go
When you want to rest but the demons appear
Just take a deep breath, let out all the fear

If you want to run, then don’t look back
Reach for the sun through the haze
And if there is no sun, don’t you feel you’re alone
I’ll be at the end of the maze

And I’ll be the one to try to make it better
Comfort and hold your head
It’s alright, if you cry and shout out
Just give me the chance to be there

Time will heal isn’t that what they say
I know that it’s hard when your life’s like a play
And when the curtain comes down and there’s nowhere to go
Just gather the roses and watch out for the thorns

And I’ll be the one to try to make it better
Comfort and hold your head
It’s alright, if you cry and shout out
Just give me the chance to be there

If you don’t know the right way to go
If you don’t know the way
If you don’t know the right way to go
I’ll help you find your way

Tour Diary – Musings From The Magical Drawing Room

After a most excellent visit to the wondrous Northern seaside town of Blackpool, which we blogged about here , our September UK Tour  heads South to the beautiful market town of Chesham, nested in the Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire.

The Drawing Room is the venue for the evenings gig, where our kind and charming host Richard has created a magical space  for art, live music and tasty treats. A mild September’s evening allows us to take to the outside stage which rises up in to the trees above a beautifully decorated courtyard where  great ambient lighting and a full moon set the vibe for the evenings shindig perfectly .

Again as in Blackpool, it’s an absolute pleasure to play our songs for such a warm and generous audience. We are also kept nice and toasty on stage by a very groovy & futuristic looking heater that makes us feel like we are in a Beyonce video… you have to dream!

Our set culminates in a heart warming communal rendition of Springsteen’s ‘I’m On Fire’ and we descend from our perch on high   to meet some lovely folk in the audience, enjoy the veggie curry, wine and the brilliant tunes of  The Big Sixes who follow us on stage.

The merriment continues into the small hours with talk of ghost cats & mad hatters and a lesson in the skill of ‘tamping’ a pipe from a man who looks very much like Richard Branson! The Drawing Room is a wonderful place, what a night!

More to follow soon! Come see us along the road, click here for a full list of live dates.

Tour Diary – Stories From A Northern Seaside Town

So just about safely  across the Irish sea in force 8 gales to kick off a month long UK Tour!

Our first port of call is the Northern seaside town of Blackpool and enough time for a  pre-gig stroll along the promenade where there’s definitely something for everyone on offer! Elvis Impersonators, donkey rides, candy floss and sticks of rock galore, druken men falling down in the middle of the afternoon and 5 Jumbo lighters for £1. Never a dull moment!

On to the gig, and a splendid evening all round, we’ve played a few house concerts now always unique and memorable evenings, if you get the chance you should go along to one.

Phil & Lynn are definitely the host and hostess with the mostest providing the warmest of welcomes, amazing food and assembling a most lovely audience.

Our good  friend Dan Wilde kicks off the evening with a set of his spell binding songs. Always a pleasure to add some backing vocals on his beautiful song ‘Pictures’ . You can find out more about Dan and his music here.

Really good to be back out playing again with the usual suspects featured in the set list along with some new young pretenders which are coming along nicely. Good banter and great participation from the choir of Blackpool folk makes for a most enjoyable start to the tour.

We leave Blackpool behind with a quick visit to ‘Rimmers’ music shop, Dave in need of ‘G strings’. Sounds like something from  a ‘Carry On’ film….

Next stop Chesham,  here’s the full list of tour dates, hope to see you along the road…

A Superman – Lyrics

It’s funny how it seems,
You always run to danger, You’re always in need,
It’s funny how it feels,
An ordinary man in the morning,
Doing average deeds.

I don’t know who you are,
But I don’t care,
If you’re there, it’s alright

I don’t know who you are,
Superman,
You’re running through my dreams.

Flying through the air,
High above your darkness,
High above your cares.
I’ll keep you safe from harm,
Won’t ever let them catch,
Never drag you down

I don’t know who you are,
But I don`t care,
If you’re there, it’s alright

I don’t know who you are,
Superman,
You’re running, running through my dreams.

You take it all away,
Save another day,
You think you’re on your own,
Even when you not alone

You take it all away,
Save another day,
You think you’re on your own,
But I won’t let you down.

You take it all away,
Save another day,
You think you’re on your own,
You think you’re on your own,

I don’t know who you are,
Superman,
You’re running, running through my dreams.

Something Beautiful – Lyrics

Remember those words you said,
All those words you said,
When there was nothing left to say,
You mended a broken heart,
Put together a broken heart,
You patched me up, took my weight,

We all want something beautiful, Just to hold on to…

Remember the Winter’s sky,
Your breath, in the cold blue sky,
The warmth from your lips I felt that day,
I remember the coat your wore,
The smell of the clothes you wore
You patched me up, took my weight,

We all want something beautiful,
Just to hold on to,
Till the pain is through
There’s something we can do.

You mended a broken heart,
Put together a broken heart,
You patched me up, took my weight,

We all want something beautiful,
Just to hold on to,
Till the pain is through
There’s something we can do.

We are really happy to have ‘One In A Million‘ featured on a compilation put together by the lovely folk over at Café Irlandaise . It has already been picking up some brilliant reviews in the Irish press featuring as ‘Album Of The Week‘ In The Irish Independent. Here’s the lowdown…

Cafe Irlandaise

Café Irlandaise is an exciting collection of songs from modern Irish female vocalists who are lead singers in bands, duos or are going it solo. Their preferred styles include electronica, alternative pop, baroque, ambient, experimental and folk. Such diverse sounds sit together cheerfully on this ten track compilation - creating a warm, happy glow for the listeners’ enjoyment. The ladies hail from various parts of the island; their passion and talent captured in their song writing.

This compilation is a celebration of the unique sounds coming out of Ireland at the moment and hopefully it will bring you as much enjoyment as was had, when selecting the artists and tracks.

So lend your ears to the music of some very talented ladies from across Ireland, all the tunes available for FREE DOWNLOAD! Lucky you!
